Puffy Peonies

I stumbled upon pristine pink peonies at the supermarket and immediately raced home for my rice paper and LEDs. For this 2026 Peony series, I committed to an early 20th-century aesthetic built around deep greens, warm tans, and rich blues.

Earth
This category captures the peony at its vibrant peak. Luscious reds and pinks explode with the energy of spring. The leaves stand with their own architectural strength, catching light to convey the youthful fullness of the bloom's prime.

Water
Each opening and closing of the peony drained color until the pink finally retreated to white. The transformation reminded me of the ocean - the relentless push and pull of tides, and how color retreats at sunset and returns at dawn.
